What’s in my bag? David Le Wedding Photography

David Le (@davidle_nz) is a full time wedding and commercial photographer who made the switch over to Sony Alpha mirrorless from Canon when he came to an inflection point in his career. “I had a decision to make: to invest more into Canon glass or make the switch to Sony,” he explains. “Some of the big draws for me in making the switch was the new technology of mirrorless that I could see Sony was investing in, the compact size and the electronic view finder allowing me the ability to see the exposure of my shot. This cut down overshooting by allowing me to be more efficient with my shooting, which in turn helped cut down my post production and culling time as I was nailing the shot I needed in camera. This was the best decision I made for my career as it allowed me to progress faster than I would have if I stayed with Canon, and I knew the support given by Sony was far superior.”

We caught up with David to learn more about his wedding photography gear. Keep reading as he shares his what's in his bag.

Windy wedding in Waituna West

The second wedding of my back to back was a wild windy one in the wop wops of the Manawatu in Waituna West for the wedding of Charlotte and Tom.

Some million dollar views mixed with some million dollar smiles, you couldn’t of asked for a better crew of people, and Magnums for dessert, what a day!!

First of many at Bostock Winery

Spent the long weekend in the sunny Hawke’s Bay for the wedding of Anna and Sam at Bostock Winery. It’s first official wedding meant everything was unique and original and being able to be a part of that occasion was a privilege.

Married in front a great crew of people from all of the country and even a few who made the commitment to travel from overseas with the compulsory 2 week quarantine just showed how much Anna and Sam meant to their people.

Here’s a few snaps from their wedding day.

Tipi Tents | Topkata

Much of the unique character and charm of the TopKåta Tipi can be put down to the poles - natural, practical, environmentally friendly and truly beautiful.  Each pole is created from 100 year old, late-maturing, chemical-free Spruce sourced from sustainable forests in Sweden.  The cold causes these trees to grow very slowly, producing exceptionally strong timber.  The TopKåta Tipi canvas are custom made, lightweight, waterproof and wind resistant, offering sustainable, eco-friendly solution to the PVC normally used in marquee structures.

These are classic handmade ivory coloured sailcloth and Spruce pole tents that require no lining or frilly detailing.

The natural colour of the sailcloth reflects a warm and embracing light viewed from both inside and out. The high sides which can be covered or left open as required, provide for perfect sightlines and extended views whether standing or seated within the tent.
