Wes Anderson inspired stop animation film New Zealand wedding of Tina and Kris at Maungaraupi Country Estate

Think of our wedding as a Friendsgiving - a Thanksgiving with our mates

Maungaraupi Country Estate

2020 has been a doozy of a year so far and it has created and changed so many plans. I’ve had over a dozen postponements and another half a dozen cancellations, so after taking another cancellation email. About 48 hours after I had, Tina get in touch asking if I was available to come along and shoot their quick fire wedding. You create your own luck, and this was the world working in mysterious ways!

They found a little hidden gem in the middle of nowhere, Maungaraupi Country Estate, they fell in love with is decor and light and decided to invite their closest friends for a little Wes Anderson inspired Friendsgiving, a Thanksgiving but with their mates and tacked on a wedding too. Kris is originally from the UK and Tina from the US, so their overseas friends and family joined in via small video messages from home.

Taking inspiration from their Wes Anderson theme, Character cut inspo from my kids favourite books from 1995 ‘Machines and Amazing Mazes’ by Edmond Davis, techniques from photog talents in Briars Atlas and Van Middleton and shout out to the bro Brad Boniface for the 45mm tilt shift too, was spicy!

I decided to create a helluva GIF on steroids. With a clear cut cutting masterclass, take a look at their wedding day above in all its stop motion animated fantasticalness.

Luminous, celestial light infused this week’s serene bridal shoot by Wild Hearts founder, Samantha Gerard. Perched upstairs at St George’s Restaurant, dreamy moments of stillness ensued. A modern organic palette of tender, ethereal whites basked in the fractured and filmy light.

Mark and Ellen's Dekens Barn Wedding Oakura, Taranaki

A look back at the west coast surf highway wedding of Ellen and Mark. Held at one of the most sort after venues in Taranaki, Dekens Barn in Oakura. The only day of the week where it didn’t rain buckets, was just a little bit of faith. Super big party, a whole lot of fun and finally a rustic wedding where their was no hessian or jam jars in sight!

Few snaps from the big dance!

An Old Forest School wedding filled with rustic charm, wild gardens and dusky pastel hues. Celebrating with their nearest and dearest ASH + DARCY said their vows with a garden ceremony amongst these enchanted surrounds.

With their shared love of the outdoors, the woodlands setting of Old Forest School stole their hearts.  This historic old school set on 5 aches of private forest and farmland in Pongakawa, just outside of Tauranga.

A nostalgic setting and a day to remember for these wild romantics. Captured beautifully by photographer David Le.
